Russian Language

Study of the Russian language for heritage learners: grammar, writing and oral expression, the language of Russian literature, and history of the Russian language.

History of Russia

From the Slavs to Modern Times (10th -21st centuries)

Other topics: History and Orthodoxy, 20th c. History of Russia in the light of Christian values.

Singing (Choir)

Russian Traditional Songs, Children’s Songs in Russian, Russian and Ukrainian Christmas Carols, and selections of Church music (in Church-Slavonic).

Geography of Russia

Study of the map of Russia: regions, cities, rivers, lakes, climate, etc

Reading (grades 2-6)

Reading from simple stories to fairytales: vocabulary expansion, reading comprehension, oral discussions, and study of Christian values through stories.

Literature (grades 7 -12)

Reading selections from Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and other Russian authors (in the original Russian text).

Study of the lives and works of the great Russian classical writers: literary analysis and study of Christian views in Russian literature.
